Iconic wine merchant Sherry-Lehmann was experiencing rapid sales growth and also expanding to a larger retail outlet in New York City. The challenge was to manage their high value inventory, eliminate errors and improve the customer buying experience, while maintaining the classic merchant atmosphere their customers enjoyed.

Sherry-Lehmann was already utilizing PowerHouseWMS for their warehouse management, so the solution was to extend the system right to the retail sales floor. Previously, sales associates had taken customer orders with pencil and paper, and would pass them to a wine cellar clerk for fulfillment without knowing if the stock was actually available. In the larger, higher traffic store, this process was no longer viable. When they called us for help, we connected PDA devices to the PowerHouseWMS system to enable real-time inventory visibility and order fulfillment.

This solution has evolved into PowerHouse Mobile Point of Sale, which can be applied to virtually any retail business, allowing sales people to access inventory levels on their mobile devices, place orders for fulfillment and complete checkout on the spot.
