announced that BareNecessities.com has implemented the PowerHouse/WMS-TMS
optimization suite.
Bare Necessities was straining
to keep up with record setting growth because they lacked the necessary systems
to manage their inventory and warehouse operations. Lost inventory, increasing labor
costs and mounting back orders were just some of the hurdles they needed to
overcome.
To help them find a solution
Bare Necessities engaged The Progress Group (leading Supply Chain and Logistics
consults) to design their new facility and assist in the selection of a new
warehouse optimization suite. As a
result, Bare Necessities selected the PowerHouse/WMS-TMS solution and QSSI as
their trusted partner.
A big problem for Bare
Necessities was increasing backorders caused by lack of inventory control and
visibility. Using PowerHouse, Bare
Necessities was able to automate receiving and stock location (via Visual Put)
that has eliminated their backorder issues.
The solution provided a streamlined receiving process coupled with
cross-docking and directed putaway that moved inventory from dock to stock
faster providing, available inventory for sale more quickly and at a lower cost.
Bare Necessities also needed to
improve their picking and packing operations and to optimize transportation
costs. Unique requirements like
single-line/single-piece orders, customer specific drops-ins, special handling
and more led to the configuration of picking methods that substantially improved
accuracy and productivity. To
minimize shipping costs PowerHouse/TMS is being used to rate shop parcel
carriers and provide certified shipping documents and labels.
The implementation of PowerHouse
did more than just help Bare Necessities control their inventory. Today Bare Necessities ships nearly
three times as many orders as they used to with one third as many employees. Backorders are no longer an issue,
accuracy is better than ever and customer satisfaction is at an all time high.
