Piscataway, NJ - QSSI, a technology leader in providing Distribution, Fulfillment, Warehousing Automation and Supply Chain Software, announced the development of PowerPort, a tool-set that will allow for QSSI's WMS software, PowerHouse/WMS, to be deployed across a variety of databases.
"We created the tool-set using sophisticated database language parsing software developed in-house. The first step in the process was converting our entire database source code to a new, standardized programming language we call P-CODE, which contains structural and logic flow elements common to all major databases. We then created special compiler software to take this P-CODE as input, and produce as output vendor-specific database code for the major database platforms. Development of this tool-set was critical in our goal to support multiple databases, while at the same time keeping software maintenance costs down," explains David Strelitz, QSSI VP Development. "As a result, PowerHouse/WMS can now run seamlessly on Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Sybase, and we can quickly make PowerHouse/WMS available to run on other databases, such as DB2 and Informix" adds Mr. Strelitz.
This breakthrough development for the PowerHouse/WMS product line allows QSSI to continue to maintain and support one source code and greatly reduces maintenance across all the databases that PowerHouse/WMS supports.
