The cycle counting features in PowerHouse provide administrators with the ability to maintain accurate control over their inventory on an ongoing basis, rather than waiting for year end wall-to-wall inventories or out-of-stock situations to discover problems.

Cycle counts are meant to count a small portion of the warehouse every day. Over time, this will mean that the entire warehouse gets counted several times a year. PowerHouse provides a comprehensive set of criteria to choose from when generating the list of locations to count and the system will keep track of which locations have been counted recently to ensure that every location gets counted at least once during the cycle.

Cycle count profiles can be created with the necessary values, such as the number and type of locations to be counted each day and saved. These profiles can be automatically run by the PowerHouse scheduling service to have counts for a portion of the warehouse waiting in the queue every morning when the warehouse staff arrives.

The system can display counts in different formats for different areas of the warehouse. A count taking place in a picking location can require the user to enter in the item, quantity carton ID, etc., while a count in a push-back rack may only require the user to specify the number of pallets in the location. If the number of pallets matches what the system has on record, the can is good, if not, the system will create a second count in which the user must identify all of the pallet IDs, items and quantities in the location to determine which pallet of product is missing or not recorded in the system.

PowerHouse can also be configured to automatically create secondary and tertiary counts when the initial count doesn't agree with the system records. In this case, if a subsequent count confirms either the system value, or the value entered by the previous counter, the system will use the confirmed value as the correct one. Subsequent counts can be configured in such a way that they will only appear on the RF screens of supervisors and administrators.
