PowerHouse can not only track finished goods within your warehouse, but raw materials and
components as well. Whether you are running manufacturing lines or simply creating pre-packs,
PowerHouse's kitting and production functions can handle your entire operation.
|
| |
|
Both the kitting and the production modules begin with a bill of materials on the finished
item. The bill of materials allows you to specify the components that make up the finished
product, the quantity needed for each raw material or component and the order in which the
raw materials need to be brought to the production line or assembly area.
|
| |
|
Kitted products can be handled in one of two ways. When a kitted product is ordered, the
system can be configured to pick the finished kit, generating work tasks to have the components
brought to the assembly area to make more if there are not enough in stock, or the system
can simply pick and ship the component items, displaying them on the packing list as individual
items rather than the kitted assembly.
|
| |
|
PowerHouse also provides the ability to ‘decompose’ kitted products back into
their component parts so that inventory can be freed up for other uses or returned to stock
when the kitted product becomes obsolete.

Production line control in PowerHouse gives a manager the ability to specify production lines,
their feed and receiving locations and other production run parameters. Once a production
run has begun, raw materials will be directed to their appropriate feed locations and restocked
as necessary. One source location can be configured to feed multiple lines, so sharing the
contents of a silo or railcar is no problem.
|
| |
|
As finished goods are received off the end of the production line, the system will decrement
the onhand quantities of the raw materials in the source locations based on the quantity of
finished goods received and the quantity of raw materials specified for each piece of finished
product in the bill of materials. Since minor variances in the rate of flow of raw materials
within the manufacturing line, as well as scrap during initial startup of the run, can mean
that more or less material actually exists within the source locations than the calculations
have determined, PowerHouse provides the ability to verify the actual on hand quantity. When
raw materials are being returned to stock, the user must measure the quantity being returned
so that the system can accurately adjust the inventory levels.
